History

The municipality of Mogán, of which Arguineguín is a part, has a rich and varied history that spans thousands of years. The earliest recorded human settlements in the area date back to the prehistoric era, with archaeological sites indicating the presence of early inhabitants as far back as the Neolithic period.

In the centuries that followed, the area was inhabited by a succession of different cultures and civilizations, including the Phoenicians, the Romans, and the Berbers. The Canary Islands were eventually conquered by the Spanish in the 15th century, and Mogán became an important center for agriculture and trade.

During the 19th century, the town experienced a period of economic growth and development, as new technologies and industries transformed the local economy. The construction of a new harbor in the early 20th century further boosted the town's prosperity, as it became an important center for the export of local agricultural products.
