History Carrollton is a city located in the state of Texas, United States. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and is situated in Dallas County. The history of Carrollton dates back to the mid-19th century when the area was primarily rural and sparsely populated. In 1842, a community named Trinity Mills was established in the region, named after the nearby Trinity River and a gristmill that was built there. Trinity Mills served as a trading center for farmers in the area. In 1878, the town of Carrollton was incorporated and became the official name of the community. The arrival of the Dallas-Wichita Railroad in the late 1800s brought growth and prosperity to Carrollton. The railroad played a significant role in transporting goods and people, contributing to the town's development. Agriculture, particularly cotton farming, was a vital part of the local economy during this period.
