Bay Point History Bay Point is an unincorporated community located in Contra Costa County, California, in the eastern San Francisco Bay Area. The area was originally inhabited by the Bay Miwok tribe of Native Americans, who lived in the region for thousands of years before the arrival of Europeans. In the mid-19th century, the area was primarily used for ranching and agriculture, with the arrival of the California Gold Rush in 1848 bringing increased population and economic growth to the region. The town of Bay Point was officially established in the early 1900s, when the Bay Point Land Company subdivided the area into small lots for residential development.
