History
BC Place Stadium, located in the heart of Downtown Vancouver, is one of Canada’s most iconic and technologically advanced multi-purpose venues. Originally opened on June 19, 1983, the stadium was constructed to serve as the centerpiece for Expo 86, a World’s Fair that put Vancouver on the global map. Designed by architect Barry Downs, BC Place was a groundbreaking structure at the time, featuring the world’s largest air-supported dome roof, a hallmark of engineering innovation in the 1980s.
