Navarre History Navarre is a small unincorporated community located in Santa Rosa County, in the northwest region of the state of Florida. Navarre's history dates back to the early 16th century, when Spanish explorers arrived in the area. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the Navarre area was inhabited by Native American tribes, primarily the Creek and Choctaw. The United States government forcibly removed many of these tribes to Indian Territory (present-day Oklahoma) in the 1830s, as part of the Indian Removal Act.
