History

Bowleys Quarters is a historic waterfront community located in Baltimore County, Maryland, along the Chesapeake Bay. Its history dates back to the 17th century when European settlers arrived in the area. The community is named after Thomas Bowley, an early landowner who acquired the land in the late 17th century.

Originally, Bowleys Quarters was primarily an agricultural and fishing community. The fertile soil and proximity to the bay made it an ideal location for farming and fishing activities. Early settlers relied on the bay's resources for sustenance and trade. Oysters, fish, and crabs were abundant, and harvesting them became a significant part of the local economy.
