Milford is a town located in Hillsborough County, in the southern part of the state of New Hampshire. It was first settled in the mid-18th century, and was incorporated as a town in 1794.

Milford was an important center of commerce and manufacturing during the 19th century, thanks to its location along the Souhegan River, which provided power for a number of mills and factories. The town's early industries included cotton and woolen mills, as well as a paper mill and a shoe factory.
