Horná Lehota is a village located in Slovakia, in the Žilina District of the Žilina Region.
Slovakia, situated in the heart of Europe, has a rich and diverse history that has influenced the development of its villages. Many Slovakian villages, including Horná Lehota, have roots that date back centuries.
Throughout history, the region that encompasses modern-day Slovakia has been inhabited by various tribes and ethnic groups. In the early medieval period, the area was part of the Kingdom of Hungary. During this time, settlements like Horná Lehota began to form as small agricultural communities. These villages often consisted of a central square surrounded by farmsteads and houses.
