Coachella (festival)

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, commonly known as Coachella, is an annual music and arts festival held in Indio, California, in the United States. The festival was founded by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen in 1999 and is organized by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Presents. Coachella has become one of the most iconic and influential music festivals worldwide, attracting both music enthusiasts and celebrities from around the globe.

Coachella is known for its diverse lineup of music genres, including rock, pop, hip-hop, electronic music, and more. The festival showcases established and emerging artists, with performances spanning multiple stages over two weekends. Each year, the festival features headlining acts as well as numerous supporting artists, providing a platform for both established and up-and-coming musicians.

The inaugural Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival took place in October 1999 and featured performances by notable acts such as Beck, Tool, and Rage Against the Machine. The festival was initially conceived as a two-day event, but due to financial difficulties and low attendance, it was not held in 2000.
