History
Debrecen is a city located in eastern Hungary. It is the second-largest city in the country and serves as the administrative, economic, and cultural center of the Hajdú-Bihar County. The history of Debrecen is rich and dates back over a thousand years.
Early History: Debrecen was first mentioned in historical records in 1235, but it is believed to have been settled long before that. It was originally a small village in the Hungarian Kingdom.
Medieval Period: During the medieval period, Debrecen gradually grew in importance. In 1361, it was granted the status of a market town, which allowed it to hold regular markets and fairs. The town's economy benefited from trade, agriculture, and crafts.
