Playa de Famara History
Playa de Famara is a stunning beach located on the northwest coast of the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, Spain. It has a rich history that dates back thousands of years.
The beach gets its name from the nearby village of Famara, which was named after the legendary Guanche princess Amara. The Guanches were the original inhabitants of the Canary Islands and they lived on Lanzarote for over a thousand years before the arrival of the Spanish in the 15th century.
According to historical records, the beach was used by the Guanches as a landing point for their boats, which they used for fishing and trading. The beach also has a strategic location, as it offers a clear view of the sea, making it an ideal location for lookout points to protect the island from pirates and invaders.
