Port de la Selva History
El Port de la Selva is a coastal town located in the province of Girona, in the northeastern region of Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the eastern side of the Cap de Creus peninsula, a rugged and scenic area that is part of the Costa Brava.
The town is known for its beautiful beaches, clear waters, and charming fishing port. It has a population of around 1,200 people, but the number of residents increases significantly during the summer months due to the influx of tourists.
El Port de la Selva has a rich history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to prehistoric times. The town was an important center for maritime trade during the Roman period and later became a popular destination for artists and intellectuals in the 20th century, including Salvador Dalí, who had a house in nearby Cadaqués.
