History Sevierville is a city located in eastern Tennessee, United States. It is the county seat of Sevier County and is situated in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The history of Sevierville dates back to the early 18th century when European settlers began to arrive in the area. The land that is now Sevierville was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Cherokee. The first recorded European settler in the region was a man named Isaac Thomas, who arrived in the late 1780s. The area was initially known as Forks of the Little Pigeon, named after the nearby Little Pigeon River.
