Jackson Preparatory School is a coeducational secondary school located in Jackson, Mississippi. Prep's 910 students come from many different elementary schools throughout the greater Jackson metropolitan area and nearby towns. They represent different ethnic and religious backgrounds. Their interests and talents are wide ranging. Their intellectual strengths are as diverse as their personalities. Prep's philosophy is outlined in our mission statement.

Prep is the only independent school in the metro Jackson area that focuses solely on grades 7 through 12. Prep's 76 acre campus boasts 5 major buildings, plus an impressive sports complex. Prep regularly wins athletic titles and national and regional awards in academic and fine arts competitions.

Jackson Preparatory School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarships and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.

Major expansion to keep pace with a growing population has characterized the development in recent years of key components in Rankin county's healthcare complex. With the increasing impact of managed care in the central Mississippi region since 1993, there have been progressive changes in the delivery of quality care and the continuum of healthcare services available in Rankin County.

There are five medical institutions in the county; the two largest - Rankin Medical Center and River Oaks Hospital, both acute care facilities - have experienced tremendous growth of their physical facilities. Between them, these two hospitals have over 400 staff physicians, specializing in 47 areas of medicine.

River Oaks East - Woman's Pavilion, is also a full-service facility with more than 100 licensed beds and a pavilion dedicated entirely to personalized healthcare for women and infants. Its medical staff has more than twenty-two years of obstetric and gynecological experience.

Mississippi state Hospital, a publicly funded psychiatric facility, has more that 30 patient buildings on a beautiful 350 acre campus. Operating at Mississippi State Hospital are an adolescent and child service, chemical dependency unit, forensic unit, medical surgical care, the state's largest nursing home, and several key services to the community. The hospital continues to serve the needs of people with mental illnesses and behavioral problems from the western two-thirds of Mississippi.

Charter Hospital is a private psychiatric facility with 78 adult beds and 33 adolescent and child beds. Their behavioral health services have been expanded to include a partial and outpatient addictive disease program, as well a a Christian psychiatric treatment program.

With the increase of retirees in Rankin County has been a correlation in the number of available extended care and assisted living facilities. Patio home subdivisions, condominiums, and zero-lot line housing developments are being built in close proximity to medical facilities. Six home health agencies in Rankin county are helping provide in-home treatment that previously could only be performed in a physician's office or in a hospital setting. Many of these providers of healthcare services have been attracted to Rankin county merely for reasons of economic and professional betterment. They also have located in this area because of the excellent facilities and support provided to them, the quality of life available to their families, and the excellent educational opportunities for their children.

The Rankin County School District was rated in "Expansion Management Magazine" the state's only blue-ribbon district in its yearly Education Quotient report. The Mississippi Department of Education has officially rated the district with a rating of 5.0 (Excellent) for 1996-97.

As the state's third largest school district, Rankin County School District is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and School and the State of Mississippi. It continues to grow at a rapid rate, serving all of Rankin County with the exception of Pearl. The Pearl Public School District, established in 1976, serves students in the City of Pearl and immediate surrounding area.

The Rankin County District offers the traditional required courses as well as opportunities for participation in accelerated and advanced placement courses in the high school. For children with learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, and physical handicaps a wide range of programs are offered through the special education department.

The Jackson International Airport provides a business with the opportunity to flourish in both aviation and non-aviation related fields. With a U.S. Customs Port of Entry located on the property, the airport is the ideal location for a tenant specializing in international air cargo. Combined with uncongested skies, a Foreign Trade Zone, and plans for an extensive air cargo park on the west side of the field, Jackson boasts many amenities that are not available at larger, more crowded airports.
