Geological and Environmental Foundations
Situated on reclaimed coastal wetlands just east of McGregor Boulevard, the land beneath JetBlue Park bears the hallmarks of Pleistocene marine incursions. Beneath a thin veneer of sandy loam lies a substrate of oolitic limestone—ancient tidal bars cemented into rock by calcium carbonate precipitation. The native hydrology featured interwoven sloughs and seasonal ponds, fed by sheet flow from adjacent flatwoods. During construction, engineers employed deep dynamic compaction and lime‐stabilized fill to achieve uniform load‐bearing strata for the grandstand and dugout foundations. Perimeter French drains intercept subterranean flow, preserving turf integrity by preventing perched water tables from saturating shallow root zones.
