Port of Menteith History
The Port of Menteith is a small village located in the Stirling council area of Scotland. The village is situated on the eastern shore of the Lake of Menteith, which is the only lake in Scotland. The history of the Port of Menteith dates back to the 12th century when the area was granted to the priory of Inchmahome by David I of Scotland.
During the 16th century, the village was an important trading center due to its location on the lake. The village had a pier that was used for the transportation of goods to and from other parts of Scotland. The port was also used as a fishing base by local fishermen who would catch fish in the lake and then sell them in nearby towns and cities.
