History & Context

History Solina is a popular tourist destination located in southeastern Poland, specifically in the Bieszczady Mountains region. It is known for its scenic beauty, including the Solina Dam and Lake Solina, which are major attractions in the area. The history of Solina is closely tied to the construction of the Solina Dam and the creation of Lake Solina. The construction of the dam began in the 1960s and was completed in 1969. The purpose of the dam was to control the waters of the San River and generate hydroelectric power. As a result, Lake Solina was formed, which is now the largest artificial lake in Poland, covering an area of approximately 22 square kilometers.
