Maspalomas History
Maspalomas is a town located on the southern coast of Gran Canaria, one of the Canary Islands, which belong to Spain. The history of Maspalomas dates back to the time of the indigenous Guanche people, who inhabited the Canary Islands before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors in the 15th century.
When the Spanish arrived, they named the island Gran Canaria, and established a colony in the area. Maspalomas became an important agricultural center, with crops such as sugarcane, tomatoes, and bananas being grown in the fertile soil of the surrounding area. However, it was not until the 1960s that tourism began to develop in the area, and Maspalomas became a popular destination for visitors from Europe and beyond.
