History

Dolný Kubín is a town located in the Orava region of Slovakia. It is situated in the northern part of the country, in the Žilina Region. The town lies in the beautiful Orava Valley, surrounded by the Western Tatras and the Chočské vrchy mountains. Dolný Kubín has a rich history that dates back several centuries.

The area where Dolný Kubín is located has been inhabited since ancient times. The first recorded mention of the town dates back to 1300 when it was referred to as "Villa Kubin." It was a small settlement, and its development was influenced by its strategic location on the trade route connecting Poland and Hungary.
