Ihtiman History

Ihtiman is a town located in western Bulgaria, in the Sofia Province. The town has a rich history that dates back to ancient times. The first known settlement in the area dates back to the Neolithic period, around 6000-5000 BC. Later, the Thracians inhabited the region, and several Thracian tombs have been discovered in the area, including the famous "Golyama Kosmatka" tomb, which dates back to the 4th century BC.

During the Roman Empire, Ihtiman was an important transportation hub and was located on the Via Diagonalis, which connected Rome to Constantinople. The town was also known for its hot springs, which were popular among the Roman elite.
