History

Once a remote mountain farming community, Zürs has transformed into one of the most prestigious ski resorts in the world. Its journey from an isolated alpine village to a global destination is a story rich with tradition, resilience, and pioneering spirit. The earliest records of Zürs date back to the 14th century, when it was a small cluster of alpine farms nestled in the high valleys of the Arlberg region. For centuries, the area was primarily used for summer pastures, with locals migrating their livestock to the highlands during the warmer months—a tradition known as Almwirtschaft, which still leaves its mark on the landscape today.
