Starlight Live Cam
An unincorporated community in Wood Township
History
Starlight is an unincorporated community located in Wood Township, Clark County, Indiana, United States. The community was named for the Starlight Post Office, which was established in the area in the mid-19th century. The post office was named after the Star Light Lodge, a nearby Masonic lodge.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Starlight was a thriving community with several businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a school. The community also had a strong agricultural base, with many residents involved in farming.
In the early 20th century, the Starlight area became known for its production of high-quality tobacco. Many farmers in the area grew tobacco and sold it to companies for use in cigarettes and chewing tobacco. However, the tobacco industry declined in the mid-20th century, and many farmers in the area switched to other crops or left farming altogether.
