History
Sandy Springs is a city located in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. It is a suburb of Atlanta and is situated in the northern part of the state. The area that is now Sandy Springs has a rich history that dates back to pre-colonial times.
Prior to European settlement, the land was inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Creek and Cherokee peoples. The Creek Indians, specifically the Creek Confederacy, were the dominant force in the region and had established a trading post near the Chattahoochee River, which runs through present-day Sandy Springs.
