Sturgeon Bay is a city in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The area that is now Sturgeon Bay was originally inhabited by the Potawatomi and Menominee Native American tribes. French explorers and fur traders began arriving in the area in the 17th century, and by the early 1800s, the United States had gained control of the region through the Treaty of Paris.
