History
Tsarevo is a town located on the southeastern coast of Bulgaria, in the Burgas Province. Its history dates back centuries and is closely tied to the rich cultural heritage of the region. Here's an overview of Tsarevo's history:
Ancient and Medieval Periods: The area around Tsarevo has been inhabited since ancient times. Archaeological findings suggest that Thracian tribes lived in the region around the 5th century BCE. During the Roman Empire, the area was part of the province of Thrace. In the Middle Ages, the Byzantine Empire and the Bulgarian Empire exerted influence over the region.
Ottoman Rule: With the fall of the Bulgarian Empire, the Ottoman Turks conquered the area in the 14th century. Under Ottoman rule, the town was known as Vasiliko and served as an important fishing and trade center. It was also a hub for the production of traditional Bulgarian crafts, including pottery and textiles.
