Chairlift, golf, para gliding, tennis, many museums - from Thonet, torture chambers, viticulture, dolls, Bluecher to the historical museum with roman and celtic exhibitions. Over 200 km of pathways to explore in Boppards forest or bike along the rivers Rhine, Moselle, Lahn or Nahe, using ship tours and train to shorten and ease your trip.

The Middle Rhine valley area, "discovered" by the english and Flamish people about 200 years ago, was in the 19. century the paragon of german history. Now it is about to be made a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Walk along the footprints of Brentano, Heine and Goethe: a boat trip with the steamship "Goethe", a glass of Riesling in one of the wonderful inns under vines, in a corner of a medieval city wall, or in one of the countless castles, ruins or monuments.

Our traditional hotel is situated directly at the Rhine promenade apposite the Köln-Düsseldorfer ship docking and just 100 meters from the pedestrian zone.

Let yourself be enchanted by the Art Nouveau style, which started in the beginning of the 20th century.

Our hotel offers you an enjoyable and comfortable stay coupled with a pretentious cuisine and culture by way of live music on the Steinway grand piano.

Began in 1887, as the great grandfather Josef Breitbach bought a hotel in the Rhine Allee. A few years later he had this building and 2 adjacent ones demolished and the Grand Hotel Bellevue took shape. Difficult years followed during the 1st and 2nd World Wars as the hotel was taken over and used as a hospital. But the 2nd generation under Laura Fusshoeller and 3rd generation under Horst and Lissy Fusshoeller managed not only to overcome the difficult times, but in fact were able to extend the operations by adding on further rooms.

In the 114 years many prominent persons were our guests (among others, "Iron" Gustav (coach journey from Berlin to Paris as a protest againt motorisation), King Rama V. from Siam, Juliette Greco, Hildegard Knef, Willi Brandt, Helmut Kohl, and the Emperor and Empress of Japan, Akihito and Michiko). The hotel also withstood many a flood. Mid nineties the hotel management was taken over by the 4th generation. The will to increase the quality and a high standard of service is our constant commitment since. Your family Dr Jan und Doris Gawel.

From our river view rooms you have a grand view of the Rhine, other rooms towards the sunny south side, many with a balcony. As a hotel with history we keep a balance between tradition and Zeitgeist.

In 6 days discover the history and landscape of this region, which has applied for membership at the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

For all friends of a good cuisine. Relax for 2 days and enjoy the comforts of our hotel. Stay in a room of the best category, naturally with the river view, and let us pamper you with our culinary delights.

Remember your childhood memories, when one used to visit classical and well known holiday places, and not Tahiti, Canada or the Dominican Republic?

The Rhine has remained the same, as you may remember it - only that the ships have become larger and faster - the half-timbered buildings has been renovated and changed to cosy restaurants or tea-houses. The castles entice you with open air theatres and special events.

And as a crowning act, our Middle Rhine Valley is on the list of UNESCO to be announced a World Heritage Site.

Use the time in these 2 days of the weekend to dive into the history of our forefathers.

Castles and fortifications, centres of cult worship - all this you can find in a radius of 30 km. Walk along "The footprints of the history of Boppard" and get a feel of, among other things, the remains of the roman castle and the medieval city wall.

The Thonet-Museum and the local history and geography Museum are open Tuesday till Sunday (Easter till October).
