Historic town of Benicia

Benicia is located in the southernmost section of Solano County, overlooking the Carquinez Strait, which connects the San Francisco Bay to the Sacramento Delta. The city is home to a deep-water port, a refinery, a charming downtown, and seven million square feet of industrial/commercial space for business. The community is known for its history, small town atmosphere, waterfront location on San Francisco Bay and excellent quality of life. For many types of businesses, Benicia's license fees, monthly commercial/industrial rents, and even labor costs are below that of comparable communities in Contra Costa County and the rest of the Bay Area. See some examples of business costs below!

Benicia is at the junction of I-780 and I-680. With the new Benicia Bridge open-road tolling, it's easier than ever to drive to Benicia without delays. It is forty minutes to San Francisco, fifty minutes to Sacramento, and ten minutes to Concord. Not only is Benicia an extremely low-crime community, but it also has a thriving Chamber of Commerce, industrial association, and downtown organization. The business community supports each other, and the City supports them. In fact, the Chamber's 2007 Business of the Year award went to the City of Benicia staff!

You don't have to live here to run a business here, but you'll probably want to after you see Benicia's charming neighborhoods. The housing styles include Mediterranean, Victorian, and California bungalows, with reasonable prices that have held their own in the latest downturn.

Events range from the Annual Peddlers Fair, Handicraft Fair, Opening Day on the Straits, Glass Studios Open House, Heritage Home Tour, Arts in the Park, Christmas at the Clocktower, Downtown Farmers Market and many others.
