History

Boise is the capital city of Idaho and is located in the southwestern part of the state. The area that is now Boise was originally inhabited by the Shoshone and Bannock tribes, who used the Boise River and its surrounding areas for fishing and hunting.

The first non-native settlers in the area were fur traders who established a trading post near the present-day site of Boise in the early 1800s. The area was later incorporated as a city in 1863, shortly after the establishment of the Idaho Territory.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Boise experienced a period of growth and prosperity, thanks in part to the discovery of gold in the nearby Boise Basin. The city became a hub for mining and agriculture, and its population grew rapidly as people from all over the country came to take advantage of the opportunities available in the area.
