During World War I, Passo Vezzena was the site of several battles between Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces. The pass was of strategic importance due to its location on the border between the two countries, and both sides fought fiercely to control it. The battles lasted from 1915 to 1917 and resulted in the deaths of thousands of soldiers.
