District of Salzburg-Umgebung in the state of Salzburg

Eastern of the city of Salzburg, in the lakes area of the Salzkammergut, lies the Salzburgring between the villages Koppl, Plainfeld and Hof. The racing course is richly wooded and surrounded by various hills, which serve as natural grandstands for the spectators and prepare great view onto the racers.

The Salzburgring was established in the year of 1968 on a 42 hectares great area. After a construction period of a year, the opening in form of a combined car and motorcycle race took place. In 1970 the first "Great Price of Austria" was driven on the course and one year later the first FIM-motorcycle world championship took place.

Besides the international and national motorcycle and automobile races, various driver training courses, club meetings, company presentations and other events stand on the program of the Salzburgring. Either because of its idyllic location, the favorably traffic connections and the extraordinary infrastructure, the Salzburgring is gladly visited by guests from near and far.
