A village at the southern end of Ullswater

The Graves Family, who also own the 4 star Armathwaite Hall at Bassenthwaite, The three star Skiddaw Hotel at Keswick, The Kings Arms Hotel at Keswick and also the |George Hotel at Penrith have just recently purchased the Ullswater Hotel in Glenridding.

The hotel was closed on the 12th November 2000 for a total ground floor refurbishment and upgrading of some of the bedrooms and was reopen on 11th April 2001 at The Inn on the Lake. The total refurbishment will cost half a million pounds and will take place over the next three years, giving us a high three star standard.

Guests staying in The Inn on the Lake will experience old fashioned hospitality with superb food ( an interesting 4 course table d'hote with choice) served in our beautiful Lake View Restaurant. Then relax in our splendid new lounges and bar overlooking Lake Ullswater.

Even at the height of summer, the southern reaches of Ullswater somehow manage to retain a magical tranquility, entirely surrounded by fells. Perhaps it evokes a 'hidden valley' feeling of being shut off from the rest of the world, or perhaps, the sheer natural beauty of the area is itself sufficient.

Let us slow down the pulse a little and ease the burdens and frustrations of modern life at The Inn on the Lake.
