Exclusive Holiday Isle in Beautiful Destin, Florida

Destin and the surrounding communities hold various types of special events all year long. The following is a partial list of just some of the types of special events that can be found in the area. There are many more; some are one-time-only affairs, others are ongoing throughout the summer, still others are special holiday events. Chances are, whatever time of the year you are visiting, there will be some sort of special event taking place along The Emerald Coast. Be sure to check with the local Chambers of Commerce for the area and time you plan to visit.

Mini Gras – A family style “Mardi Gras” is held in the Village every Tuesday during the summer months created especially for kids (but the whole family is invited.) Street vendors, face painting, balloon creations, music, beads, masks and a parade. Thursday Stroll in the Tupelo Courtyard - June through September. Join the wonderful Tupelo Courtyard Merchants every Thursday for an evening in their New Orleans - style courtyard. Enjoy live music, sip on champagne, enjoy delicious desserts or sample a different gourmet dish each week. Plus, view the latest fashions in clothing, jewelry and accessories for you and your pampered pooch.

Picnics in Paradise Summer Concert Series - Every Monday night live music from 5:30 - 8:30 PM. Children’s Events and Happy Hour Hosted by Chan’s Market Café. Free admission.

July 4th - Destin Independence Day Fireworks Display over Destin's East Bridge. Synchronized patriotic music airs during the show.

Annual Junior Classic Golf Tournament held at Fort Walton Beach Golf Course. Tournament is open to girls and boys 10 to 18 years old.

The Annual Harbor Docks CaddyshackClassic 18-Hole Golf Tournament – held in August. Emerald Coast Boat Week – usually held in mid-August.

Annual Sandestin Triathlon – usually held in August. Formerly the Elephant Walk Triathlon. More than 750 participants attend this half-mile Gulf of Mexico swim, a 20-mile bike along the coast, and a 4-mile run throughout Sandestin’s beach and bayside community. Proceeds benefit Sacred Heart Hospital of the Emerald Coast.

Paradise Music Festival – held at the Northwest Florida Fairgrounds the first week of September. Annual Destin Seafood Festival – usually held the first week of October. Annual Boogy Bayou Mullet Festival – usually held in mid-October.

Destin Festival of the Arts – usually held the last week of October at Henderson Beach State Park. Destin Christmas Parade and the Annual Destin Boat Parade – usually held in mid-December at Destin Harbor.

Destin is a great place to purchase a vacation home, or raise a family or retire. There is much to offer besides the obvious great weather and natural beauty of the Gulf and white sand beaches. The economy is strong and vibrant in Destin, the schools are consistently some of the best in the state, there is a strong arts and cultural presence in the city and the quality of life is one that many people envy. Known far and wide as a family-oriented community, Destin is often called “The Jewel” of the Emerald Coast. It is located in Okaloosa County, which encompasses an area of 1,300 square miles, including 59 miles of inland waters.

Walton County, which borders the state of Alabama, spans an area of 1,028 square miles, and is covered with unspoiled land, lakes, rivers, streams and 28 miles of beautiful, white sand Gulf beaches. Getting into the area is easy, with an excellent network of highways providing easy access. The Okaloosa County Regional Airport is located on State Road 85 between Fort Walton Beach and Niceville, and additional service is available at the nearby Pensacola Regional Airport. The Intracoastal Waterway passes through Fort Walton Beach along the shores of Santa Rosa Sound into Choctawhatchee Bay.
