Shepperton History Shepperton is a suburban village located in the Spelthorne borough of Surrey, England. The area has a rich history dating back to the Roman era when it was part of the Staines Roman settlement. During the Middle Ages, Shepperton was an important agricultural village, with the land owned by the Abbot of Westminster. The village's first recorded mention came in the Domesday Book in 1086. In the 16th and 17th centuries, Shepperton became a popular place for wealthy Londoners to build their country homes. Many of these homes, including Littleton House and Halliford House, still stand today. In the 19th century, the opening of the railway line from London to Windsor brought more visitors and residents to the area. Shepperton's proximity to the river Thames also made it a popular spot for boating and fishing.
