History
Plage des Minimes is a beach located in the city of La Rochelle, in western France. The beach has a long history that dates back to the early 20th century when the area was used as a military base.
In the 1960s, the French government decided to transform the area into a marina, and construction began in 1967. The marina was officially opened in 1971 and quickly became one of the largest marinas in Europe, with a capacity of over 3,500 boats.
The beach itself was created as part of the marina development and was officially opened in 1989. It quickly became a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, and today it is one of the most visited beaches in the region.
