A beautiful resort town in northeastern Victoria

Falls Creek boasts one of Australia's most innovative Kid’s Snowsports School facilities. Our theme - park style centre is located adjacent to the Cloud 9 Restaurant complex at the top of Bilia Bullet Quad Chairlift and boasts modern facilities with specialised staff for children 3 - 5 years old. Purpose built beginner terrain around the centre provides an ideal learning area for children.

Falls Creek has three MILO Wonder Carpets which allow children under 5 to progress faster because they have their own, easy to use ski lifts. It's the perfect way to get children started, so they can concentrate on mastering their skis. Parents can follow their child's daily progress on their personal Pro-Tag as the children develop and achieve all 12 skills on the card. Half and full day programs are available with or without lunch.

Rocky drop-offs, powder stashes, speed steeps, narrow chutes, power carves... it's all on Mt McKay. Welcome to Falls Creek's tears in your eyes, heart in your mouth extreme skiing and boarding giant. Lying just beyond the corduroy, Mt McKay is Australia's most accessible double black diamond backcountry skiing experience. A morning or afternoon Kat Session offers numerous opportunities to explore over 95 hectares of untamed, ungroomed, untouched mountain. If you thought Falls Creek was tame, Mt McKay opens up a whole new world of options.

Mt McKay is the mother of all exhilarating runs. Extending beyond Falls Creek's normal ski boundaries, Mt McKay dropped jaws in season 2000 with its adrenalin inducing scale, endless powder stashes and genuinely daunting steeps and chutes.

With over 95 hectares of ungroomed and untamed mountain to conquer, McKay offers extreme backcountry skiing with the luxury of a heated Kassbohrer ride to the summit, conserving your energy and nerve for the adventure ride back down.

Skiing and boarding experiences usually reserved for heli-skiing extremists in overseas resorts are now on offer in Falls Creek's backyard.

If you thought Falls Creek was tame, check out McKay for your new perspective. There is nothing easy about Mt McKay.

Falls Creek Endless Options With the most expansive terrain of any Victorian resort, Falls Creek has every option. The Bowl has the country's best bump skiing, for big carves and cruisey riding make for Sun Valley, The Maze hides some tight glades skiing, while beginners will enjoy Australia's longest green trail. With over 96 runs, from inviting beginner trails to steep blacks, powder tree runs to open corduroy carvers you'll find the hardest option of all is where to begin. And we haven't even mentioned Mt McKay yet!

How about another 245 hectares just a short flight away. Take the Helicopter Lift Link to Mt Hotham where your Lift Pass is also valid & enjoy the best of both resorts. Conditions Apply.

Life in Falls Creek brings an escape from the everyday. People say it's the magic mantle of soft snow that covers the alpine landscape, chalet roofs and snowgums which makes Falls Creek so special. Or is it the charm of our pretty village nestled in the mountains which creates that friendly and relaxing atmosphere? But let's not forget the allure of snow right to your door allowing you instant access to endless terrain options. Perhaps you like walking snow covered streets where kids build snowmen and impromptu snow battles occur. Then again maybe it's the spectacular views from a balcony while sipping a latte, slipping into a hot tub or sampling a fine regional wine that grabs you. Whatever it is, Falls Creek has the perfect escape for you this season.

Last year Falls Creek invested in a brand new Snowturbo Integra Super Pipe Grinder, which was used extensively ... and from the permanent grins amongst the freestyle fraternity it was money well spent.

Falls Creek has TWO half pipes of which one measures a massive 128 metres long with good high walls. Those who have used the pipe are stating they are the best pipes in Australia. Skiers and boarders are travelling from other resorts to use the well built pipes.

Perfect pipe transitions are neatly carved each day.

There's also the sweetest terrain park hits made for some awesome aerial action down Skyline and into Apres Vous down Village run. This season's new location to the Village Bowl means more park obstacles. With lines to suit all skill levels, "guts" are the only requirement.

The park is suitable for boarders and skiers of any ability and is of world standard being close to a kilometre long.

"It's a great area for developing tricks as you can hit the jumps from lower levels or take it from the top" says Peter Lucas, who heads up the Park.

Peter Lucas, Clive Dickerson and Amanda Clarke are employed by Falls Creek Ski Lifts to monitor and maintain the park, which is located in the Village Bowl and is accessible using the Summit Quad Chairlift.

There's a beginner's course over in Sun Valley at Fox Trail which has smaller undulations and obstacles, which are good for beginners to learn tricks and feel familiar with getting air.

Hot shot snowboarders can strut their stuff on the section of the Terrain Park which is tailor-made for red hot boarders who can handle seriously big air. Peter Clive and Amanda have designed high walls, huge jumps (some 5metres high) and a large wall in the middle for re-entries (reos). "It's the most challenging Terrain Park in Australia. The Falls Creek Terrain Park is designed for both skiers and boarders. It is extremely popular for the younger crew who want to get big air and increase their skill level with tricks" says Amanda Clarke. Peter, who with Clive and Amanda designed the park, coordinates the daily 'shaping' with a shovel and the use of huge snowgrooming machines. They also keep an eye on the ability of skiers/boarders using the park to ensure they are using the correct jumps suited to their level.

"We suggest boarders (and skiers) use the tracks along side each course to assess the courses and see which one they feel comfortable using. Another plus is the location. It is at one of the highest points of the resort, following International lift down into Village, which means it gets good snow cover. Another user-friendly element is the extensive signage and use of safety ropes, which keeps the course separate from the other runs.

By providing a specific area for hits, tricks, jumps and any other manoeuvres skiers and snowboarders can think of, the resort is going to be very popular with the budding aerial champions of the future.
