History

The Village of Rosemont is a suburban community located in Cook County, Illinois, USA. It was incorporated as a village in 1956 and has since become a major commercial and entertainment hub in the Chicago metropolitan area.

The area that is now Rosemont was originally inhabited by the Potawatomi Native American tribe. European settlement of the area began in the 1830s, and by the turn of the century, the area was primarily used for farming.

In the 1920s and 1930s, the area began to develop into a transportation hub, with the construction of the Tri-State Tollway and the O'Hare International Airport. However, it was not until the 1950s that Rosemont began to emerge as a major commercial center.

In 1956, the village was officially incorporated, and soon after, construction began on the Rosemont Horizon (now known as the Allstate Arena), which opened in 1980. The arena quickly became a popular venue for concerts and sporting events, and helped to establish Rosemont as a major entertainment destination.
