Boat trips go to Seal Island

The town has a wide selection of holiday homes and cottages, self-catering flats, numerous hotels both large and small as well as excellent bed and breakfast accommodation.

St Ives also has a great choice of camping, touring and holiday parks - from large parks near the coast catering for families, to parks a little inland (you are never more than ten to fifteen minutes from a beach in this part of Cornwall) in the Cornish countryside for short breaks, couples and backpackers.

A thriving art community since the late 19th century and now home of its own Tate Gallery. This ancient fishing town with a good selection of restaurants, fun filled and interesting days out for all the family close by, a modest night life plus great beaches encompasses all you want for a family holiday or simply a really relaxing short break.

Motorists are advised to use the car parks on the town's outskirts, which are well signposted, or alternatively the Park and Ride service from Lelant, two miles outside St Ives, allowing spectacular views along the bay.

Ayr, situated in St Ives itself, is less than half a mile from the beaches, and also close to the town centre, harbour and the Tate Gallery. In the fabulous St Ives Bay - renowned for its golden sands, temperate climate and artistic reputation. Just a few miles from the beaches of both the north and south coasts. Calloose has won many awards. Located a mile from the coast in the beautiful Cot Valley, Kelynack is a small and secluded Park. Just ten minutes drive from both St Ives and Penzance, Higher Chellew, small and rural, is situated in a quiet but convenient location.

All manner of watersports are available, plus horseriding, golf, fishing and the coastal footpath gives access to some superb cliff scenery, ideal for photographers, birdwatchers and ramblers.

This western lip of Cornwall is also rich in archaeological sites like 'Chysauster', a bronze age village, and many others. The mild climate makes Cornwall's gardens and hedgerows a particular attraction, blossoming with beautiful and exotic plants long before the 'up-country' gardens hove come to life. St. Ives is a place that offers you so much more than the average resort.

St. Ives Bay

At St. Ives there is a restful, carefree and less commercial atmosphere which will help you to unwind during your holiday in Cornwall. Here at St. Ives you can enjoy surfing, swimming, beachcombing, Kite flying, outdoor table tennis, fishing and volley ball. We have a games room with video games, pool tables etc., an adventure playground, a launderette and a shop. St. Ives has a family bar which is open each evening for a pleasant drink while you admire the superb view or watch the sunset.

For the less active we organise some spectacular sunsets! In West Cornwall there is an excellent choice of restaurants and pubs with good food, to suit all tastes.

River Valley Holiday Park

River Valley is a tranquil 18 acre park near St Michael's Mount, and is situated in one of the most picturesque valleys in Cornwall being just a few miles from both the North and South Coasts and their sandy beaches making it an ideal spot for a touring base. The park is partly wooded with a pleasant walk along the bank of our clear shallow stream. Surrounded by farmland, this is a quiet park which aims to give you a peaceful relaxing holiday.

The location offers you a sense of utter peace and tranquillity inviting you to relax whilst you take in the wonderful countryside atmosphere which offers amongst other things walks and drives to see the spectacular cliffs and granite moorlands, flower filled lanes and wooded valleys; or why not just sit back, unwind and feed the ducks, look out for the varied wildlife or just watch the glow worms!

If a peaceful location is what you're looking for but within only minutes of the coast, then this Park really does give you the best of both worlds. We have a range of luxury Holiday Homes and also cater for touring caravans, tents and motor homes with spacious pitches and electric hook-ups if required. Toilet blocks are fully tiled, and heated for early and late use, spotlessly clean with ample free hot water for all basins, showers and washing-up sinks. On the park is a shop, launderette, hair-drying room, shaver points, telephone box, ice-pack service and chemical disposal point. Much of the park is dog-free but dogs are welcome on some areas. We also have a family area and an adult only section, as many of our visitors are retired couples. All pitches are individually marked with many popular areas so it is advisable to book early especially for peak season.

Delight In The Surrounding Coast And Countryside

The sea is Cornwall's open secret with probably the cleanest and finest bathing waters in Western Europe offering the holidaymaker a fantastic selection of glorious beaches. The choice is remarkable, from the broad open spaces of Hayle Towans backed by gentle dunes to the hidden coves of the far west with their golden sands washed clean by seas of aquamarine; from the famous beaches of St Ives to the quieter sands of Marazion and Long Rock in Mount's Bay.

Soak up that "Mediterranean" sun on golden beaches like those of Sennen and Portheurno near Land's End or enjoy the deep swell on surf or sail-board on famous surfing beaches like Porthmeor at St Ives or Gwenver at Sennen or simply dip your toes in some of the safest and cleanest beaches in Britain.

St Michael's Mount with its fairy-tale castle is owned by the National Trust and has a wealth of history - including a marauding giant who fell down a well. Visit local museums depicting Cornwall's varied past, go bird watching or hunt for rare plants along the many coasts and bays; pay a visit to the Cornish fishing villages with their cosy cottages and winding streets leading down to the harbour. Watch the fishing fleets leave the harbours early in the morning and return late in the day with their catches and sample the freshly caught seafood in quaint cafes, restaurants and pubs. Take in the architecture of the granite built buildings many remaining unchanged over the centuries. The area is renowned for its natural beauty with many artists capturing its magic in wonderful sunsets and stunning coastline scenes.
