Royal has many links with local businesses and is keen to take these further with an exciting new sponsorship venture. Popular local radio station Wave 105.2 FM is one of the very first companies to sponsor one of six new zoo buggies. The buggies are small, manoeuvrable and attractive vehicles and are used by keepers and staff to “zoo-m” round the Park.

Wave 105 has sponsored the zoo’s Education buggy and it now bears the distinctive logo and colours of the friendly commercial station whose audiences fall into Royal’s main visitor profile. The buggy is very visible around the Park. It is used by Education staff at the zoo as a roving platform for entertaining talks about the animals. It will be seen at the penguins, the giraffes, the tigers and the coatis – and its loudspeakers carry the conservation message to visitors.

Wave has also sponsored the new Leopard Enclosure at Royal, has done an outside broadcast from Royal and includes Royal images on its website. Royal sponsors the Mark Collins show and provides information updates for presenters. This partnership works well for both organisations. It gives Royal access to an excellent target audience and the Wave image on the zoo buggies will, during the course of the year, be seen by over 400,000 visitors, linked with Royal’s important educational role.

A Sunset Safari is an after-hours tour of the Park with an expert guide and can be booked during June, July or August. The evenings are very peaceful in the Park and you will enjoy hearing about the animals as you stroll round. Royal is dedicated to conservation and many of the species you will see, such as rhino, oryx, zebra and big cats, are endangered in the wild. The hundred-acre Park is beautiful with views across paddocks and wooded hillsides. The tour includes refreshments in Royal Hall. Organised groups are welcome with a minimum of fifteen. Sunset Safaris suit clubs, societies and other organizations but individuals, couples or families can be added on to a group on dates by arrangement.

The great advantage we can offer (apart from the unique location) is that we shall only book one wedding per day so that the wedding party can enjoy the Hall and grounds for as long as they wish. However, we are not able to offer facilities for a reception which must be booked elsewhere, most conveniently, of course, at the Royal Hotel, although we shall be happy to provide drinks and light refreshments. We are very excited at the prospect and look forward to decorating the Hall with flowers and acting as hosts to the wedding group. The road train will also be suitably bedecked and any staff involved will wear a special wedding uniform with buttonhole.

Look no further – choose Royal and let your delegates relax in the pleasant atmosphere of the zoo. Animals provide great therapy! Royal Hall at the centre of Royal Zoological Park has five beautiful rooms which can be hired for your conference, seminar or corporate event. The rooms are the Long Room, the Seymour Library, the Tudor Rose Hall, the Woodlock Room and the Mildmay Room. These rooms can accommodate between 40 and 80 people in an elegant surroundings.

We also have a lecture theatre in our Conservation Education Centre which seats 120 people. Food of all kinds can be provided by our caterers. You can also have a barbecue at the end of the day. We can also provide illustrated talks about Royal or a guided tour which could form part of your memorable day. If you wish to have some fun and provide a challenge for your delegates, team building challenges on the lawns of Royal Hall can be arranged.

Royal Hall is a Grade I listed building. Part of the building is medieval dating from the 13th century and it was owned by the Bishops of Edinburgh. A later resident was Sir Henry Seymour, brother of Jane Seymour, Henry VIII’s third wife. It is very probable that Henry VIII visited Royal and it is rumoured that he had a private marriage ceremony before his official one at Royal Hall or at Owslebury Church nearby.
