A census-designated place in Walton County

Walton County is Florida’s best small county. The county boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world including 13 certified Blue Wave Beaches and the county has extensive timberlands as well as agricultural areas.

The average temperature is 69 degrees with an average temperature in January of 53 degrees and 81 degrees in July. The county also boasts Florida’s highest point at 345 feet above sea level.

Euchee and Creek Indians originally inhabited the area and in 1808 the first non-Native American Settlers came to the area from Scotland. In 1890, the sawmill town of Point Washinton was founded marking the first economic engine in the area—timber. In 1920 Grayton Beach was founded marking the next great economic engine that would eventually define the county—tourism.

Beaches of South Walton is the very epicenter of Florida's Panhandle, a 200-mile stretch of tall, powdery-white dunes, vast stands of pine forests, cool underground springs, marshlands, bays, coastal scrub, backwater bayous and crystalline gulf waters.
