A census-designated place in Walton County

Walton County is Florida’s best small county. The county boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world including 13 certified Blue Wave Beaches and the county has extensive timberlands as well as agricultural areas.

The average temperature is 69 degrees with an average temperature in January of 53 degrees and 81 degrees in July. The county also boasts Florida’s highest point at 345 feet above sea level.

Euchee and Creek Indians originally inhabited the area and in 1808 the first non-Native American Settlers came to the area from Scotland. In 1890, the sawmill town of Point Washinton was founded marking the first economic engine in the area—timber. In 1920 Grayton Beach was founded marking the next great economic engine that would eventually define the county—tourism.

Fall: October brings relief from Florida's summer humidity. While the average high fall temperature in South Walton is 80 degrees, the heat and humidity index is significantly lower than in other parts of the state. Winter: Winter at the Beaches of South Walton means sweater weather for Florida natives, but feels like Indian Summer for most people. The average winter temperature is 68 degrees - not much cooler than more southern Florida cities like Orlando, which has an average high winter temperature of 70 degrees.
