Boscombe Pier History
Boscombe Pier is a historical pier located in Bournemouth, a seaside town on the south coast of England. The pier was built in the late 19th century and was initially used for boat trips and as a landing stage for pleasure steamers.
The construction of the pier began in 1888 and it was officially opened on 28th July 1889. The pier was designed by local architect John Burton and was constructed by the Bournemouth Corporation.
In its early years, Boscombe Pier was a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, with many coming to enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding coastline. However, the pier suffered significant damage during the Second World War and was subsequently closed to the public.
