Texel is one of the most easily accessible Frisian islands. The ferry is accessible to cars, cyclists, pedestrians, and even wheelchair users can ride onto and off the ferry. You can also visit Texel by plane or with your own boat.

Bird and nature exploratory expedition - A fantastic introductory (cycling) tour to nature and bird life on the most versatile West Frisian island! The package starts after arrival at the ferry harbour on Texel (preferably before 14.00). You hand your luggage in at the bike rental shop, they provide you with a sturdy bicycle and ensure that your luggage is delivered to your hotel. With the route description (will be sent after booking) you cycle to the hotel for the first two overnight stays at your leisure. Naturally, the route leads you through important nature and bird reserves. The description of these areas in the booklet ‘Bird-watching on Texel’ gives you a good impression of the wealth of birds on the island.

On the third day, you will cycle to the hotel for your next two nights, with the route description, and on the fifth day you cycle back to the harbour. No lifting, because your luggage is taken care of. The length of the tours varies from 25 to 30 km. The second and fourth days are non-cycling days on the programme. You could go for a walk or make a cycling tour from our publication ‘Cycling and Walking routes’. Or do something else of course. At a surcharge there are a limited number of motorised bicycles for rent.

We can offer you the following programme at the Etos Beauty Parlour in Den Burg: Beauty treatment incl. face massage and personal tips to care for your skin. 20 minutes sun-bed (room with air conditioning), 20 minutes Ionozon bath; cleansing steam bath with extra oxygen supply for increased cleansing, also a tonic for your muscles. The beauty specialists use Lancaster products as standard.

Sign up with the ‘Texelstroom’ pilotage boat for four days of sailing pleasure. Meander with the sturdy North Sea smack around the briny Wadden Sea for four days. The ‘Texelstroom’, built in 1906, served as a pilot for 50 years, 22 of which were spent in the district of Texel. Her roots in pilotage are evident in her excellent sailing qualities. After a day of bracing sea air and a solid meal, you will sleep soundly in the antique bunks, as did the pilots of yesteryear. Her Certificate of Fitness guarantees her seaworthiness in accordance with today’s strict safety requirements. Guests participate actively in sailing. Instruction regarding sailing and navigation is geared to the guests’ abilities and needs. Nature itself will reveal its own wonders.

You board at Den Helder at 12.00 noon on Thursday, and disembark at 5.00 pm on Sunday. You may assemble your own programme, within the restrictions set by tide, wind and ship’s master. Possibilities include bicycle hire and museum visits. Experience the dynamics of fathomless depths and unending mudflats. Follow the tide’s wave of calmness. Breathe the Wadden Sea.

Walk from one hotel to the next through the most beautiful areas of the island. No need to worry about your luggage, it is transported for you. Two different routes have been charted. The package starts in the morning, preferably before noon, immediately after the arrival of the ferry. You hand your luggage to the taxi driver and he makes sure it is delivered to the hotel first. With the route description in your hand, you then follow the Texel path.

Route 1 (around 50 km) - five days - For the first night, you will set course for Den Hoorn. The route takes you along the Mokbaai; one of the many bird-nesting grounds of Texel. The second day, you will walk along the beach and through the dunes to De Koog. After 2 nights in De Koog, you will walk to Den Burg through De Waal. The trip takes you through landscape reserve 'De Hoge Berg' to the ferry and concludes this five-day package.

Route 2 (around 80 km) - seven days - The following package was compiled for sturdy hikers. From the ferry harbour you hike to De Koog, where you spend two days. The third day, you hike along the unique Slufter, around the lighthouse to De Cocksdorp. On the fifth day, you walk over the dyke, with bird-nesting grounds to your left and right, through the authentic villages of Oosterend and De Waal, to Den Burg. After two nights, you walk through ‘ De Hoge Berg’ to the ferry harbour, where your luggage is already waiting for you.

If you want to have a fantastic sports holiday on Texel, go parachuting. Within a few days, after a thorough instruction you will be hanging on your mattress-shaped (square) parachute over the island for the first of 8 jumps. The Static Line, attached to the aircraft, will automatically deploy your parachute. In between these jumps there will be ample time to go windsurfing, cycling or riding on horseback. At night there is a lot of entertainment in pleasant pubs and discos. Minimum age 16 (minors should have written permission from their parents) and a medical certificate (for parachuting) is obligatory. Max. weight 105 kg. You will also need: 2 passport photographs, an overall and sturdy shoes, such as army boots, but no profiled climbing boots with hooks (these articles can also be hired).

At the Static Line Plus you can make a free fall after the Static Line course. You can choose from a tandem jump or after a short instruction a jump by your own. The course comprises: theoretical instruction, instruction and training on the ground and 8 jumps from the plane. After 5 jumps you already get your A-certificate. A third party insurance is included in the price. Period: courses are offered from 12th April until 4th October 2003 and always start on Saturday.

Texel, Vlieland and Terschelling are situated close together. Yet those visiting these islands will discover completely different worlds. We have compiled three Wadden-hop packages for the adventurous traveller.

5-days package - You arrive on Texel on Monday with the ms Schulpengat. (If you have come by car, you may leave it on the mainland.) A taxi will then take you to your hotel. The next few days, you will explore the island by bike at your leisure. Pay a visit to one of the seven villages or the five museums.

On Wednesday, the taxi will take you to the northern-most point of the island. From there, the captain of "de Vriendschap" will sail you to Vlieland. You will be arriving at the Vliehors, also known as the "Sahara of the North". Here, a truck specially fitted for passenger transport, will be waiting for you, for an adventurous ride to the Posthuys. A taxi will transport you to the only village on Vlieland: Oost-Vlieland. You will get acquainted with the island on a bike. The ms Oost-Vlieland then takes you back to the mainland on Friday. In Harlingen you can board the train home or catch the Interliner, if you have parked your car in Den Helder.

8-days package - Here too, your holiday starts on Texel, on Friday this time. You will first spend two nights in the hotel of your choice. Again, you will have a bike at your disposal. On Sunday, "de Vriendschap" will sail you to Vlieland. You will have until Wednesday to get acquainted with the island, you will then return to Texel, where you will spend two more nights. Taxis will take care of the transfers on both islands. On Friday, the boat crossing to Den Helder concludes your holiday.

7-days package - With this package, not only will you visit the isles of Texel and Vlieland, but also Terschelling. You will arrive on Monday and spend two nights on each island. The package concludes on Sunday with the crossing Terschelling-Harlingen.

Included - Accommodation based on bed & breakfast and double room, tourist tax, cancellation insurance, printed matter packs, all aforementioned crossings and transfers on the islands, bike rental, museum visit on Terschelling, visit to lighthouse on Vlieland, drink on the boat. Please take into account that alternative transport may be offered due to weather circumstances.

The 3 day golf training course on the Golf Course 'De Texelse' includes: 2x 1 hour golf clinic, playing on the Par 3 course under supervision, unlimited acces to the driving range and putting green, use of equipment and a farewell tournament. Golf Course 'De Texelse' has a 9-hole Par 72 and a 9-hole Par 3 course at a unique location in the Texel dunes. This Golf Course is suitable for both beginners and experienced players.

We have organized a package for nature lovers: including entrance for EcoMare and an excursuin arranged by the Forestry Commision. Texel has been described as The Netherlands in miniature. The environment of this island has everything: sea, beaches, dunes, woodlands, moorland, polder and tidal mud-flats.

In the evenings on texel there is plenty to do as well. Texel has many bustling evening entertainment spots and a number of good restaurants. A unique venue is Theatre-Restaurant Klif 12. Here one offers a combination of theatre and dining on several days of the week. The staff reveal their artistic skills in between their 'normal' chores, giving a fine cabaret performance including song, dance and sketches.
