Atlantic City’s world-famous Boardwalk

Atlantic City is eminently qualified to be the site of your convention. You're about to discover why more and more professionals are choosing Atlantic City as the location for their meetings, conventions and trade shows, and why 37 million visitors last year made Atlantic City the most popular vacation destination in the country.

An easy day's drive from 1/3 of America's population, Atlantic City gives the meeting planner access to a huge market from which to draw attendees, exhibitors and customers. About 100 miles from New York, less than 300 from Boston, less than 100 miles from Philadelphia and 150 from Washington D.C., a meeting in this seaside resort puts the buyers and sellers, the movers and shakers all within easy reach.

With more than 16,000 luxurious hotel rooms close to The New Atlantic City Convention Center, we're the perfect spot for your gathering. And plans for more than 9,000 more beautiful rooms to retire to after a day of business are underway.

In Atlantic City, there's always room for your delegates.

Another great reason to choose Atlantic City as your convention spot is our professional staff. From the first person you contact in our Convention Sales Department, to the valet who parks your car, to the housekeeper who makes sure you're comfortable in your room, our people are experienced, conscientious and devoted. We'd love for you to come and meet them, and see for yourself.

Although Atlantic City is a great place for business, we're also a great place for fun. Atlantic City remains the most popular vacation destination in the country by offering luxury at an affordable price and an abundance of entertainment amenities, including thirteen action-packed casinos with 24-hour gaming excitement and red-hot headline entertainment... the tranquillity of wide, white sandy beaches at sunset... the history of the world's first Boardwalk... the glamour of the one and only Miss America Pageant... sumptuous dining from elegant delicacies to local fare... indulgent shopping... a fishing or golf enthusiasts dream and a variety of museums and cultural attractions. Whether it's just you, the board of directors or the whole company, you'll never run out of things to do. One day in America's Favorite Playground is never enough. So plan to stay several nights.

Atlantic City's newly expanded International Airport is just minutes from the city and offers shuttle, taxi and rental car transportation. Philadelphia International Airport is a quick 65 minute drive via the Atlantic City Expressway.

From New York and North

Modern rail service provided by New Jersey Transit arrives and departs through the recently built $25 million dollar terminal immediately adjacent to the New Atlantic City Convention Center. Within the city everything is readily accessible to public transportation on New Jersey Transit buses. Our ever popular 13 passenger jitneys move the entire length of Pacific Avenue, parallel to Atlantic City's world famous Boardwalk.

Getting Around Atlantic City

Visitors to Atlantic City have been riding on the Famous Rolling Chairs since the 1800's. The wicker rolling chairs are rolled up and down the length of the Boardwalk by a guide. A ride in a rolling chair is bewitching, like a carriage ride through Central Park, or a gondola tour of the Venetian canals. Visitors have used the rolling chair for a relaxing ride, a scenic tour, or on occasion, for special events, such as engagement or wedding proposals. These chairs are built not for speed, but for romance.

For a convenient way to travel around town, everyone rides the Jitney. It's the Atlantic City Way! Jitneys travel the entire length of the city, from the inlet to Jackson Ave., from the Marina to the Casinos, servicing practically all major Atlantic City attractions. Jitney stops are located on the corner of every route and originate one block from the Boardwalk on Pacific Avenure. For your convenience, every sign located by each Casino Stop, will have color-coded numbers. Decide your route, then just look for the corresponding color coded number on each Jitney, hop on and enjoy the ride!

Don't be alarmed by the giant duck on the Boardwalk. At the Warner Brothers Studio Store, you'll be greeted by Daffy, Bugs and the whole animated gang. Pick up anything from a watch to a T-shirt to collectible art featuring your favorite cartoon character.

Our Planet Hollywood Restaurant and memorabilia shop will bring back nostalgia of movies past. Or for a rockin' and rollin' good time check out The Hare Rock Cafe.

The Farley Marina and Harrah's Marina have both expanded and modernized. Don't miss the boat!

The new Ripley's Believe It or Not! will enchant and amaze you. In the near future, we'll welcome minor league baseball with the creation of the new Atlantic League. We're even looking into adding a theme park to the festivities.

The new Atlantic City Convention Center, opening on May 2, 1997, puts everything you need under one roof. Five exhibit halls and extensive pre-function space--over 500,000 square feet of contiguous space and several large meeting rooms make up the exhibition level of the new Center. Forty-five additional meeting rooms increase available space by over 109,100 square feet.

Atlantic City's New Grand Boulevard Project

The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority's Grand Boulevard project, in support of the new Convention Center, is creating a magnificent new entranceway into the city via the Atlantic City Expressway. Twenty-three million dollars of roadway infrastructure improvements and the realignment of the main ingress and egress streets of the city will make visiting the resort easier. An expansive park area with extensive landscaping, a large cascading fountain pool and a lighthouse-styled centerpiece greet visitors entering the city by day, while at night, a spectacular computerized light show conveys to visitors that they are entering one of the worldıs most popular entertainment destinations.

Included in the Grand Boulevard project is a new $87 million Convention Center Hotel offering 500 guest rooms, a grand ballroom and ample meeting space. A modern 22,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art Atlantic City Bus Terminal with 21 motorcoach platforms opened in February and is a major part of the Corridor's evolution. The nexus of the development between the Convention Center and Boardwalk is Michigan Avenue. Pedestrians will traverse 20-foot-sidewalks dramatically garnished with oversized planters, street sculpture and other pleasing features to be enjoyed by visitors as they stroll from the Boardwalk to New Jerseyıs newest asset, the Atlantic City Convention Center.

Sheraton Hotel - The Next Step Toward The Future

Sheraton Corporation, a leading hotel management company, is opening the convention center hotel in 1997.
