Use of Smith-Point County Park is limited to resident.

History & Context

Atlantic Ocean barrier island off the southern shore of Long Island Fire Island National Seashore comprises approximately 32 miles of barrier island and beaches off the south shore of Long Island. Fire Island can only be accessed by car at Robert Moses State Park on the East and the William Floyd Parkway to Smith-Point County Park on the West. Use of Smith-Point County Park is limited to residents of Suffolk County. Located between the bridges are 9 communities/areas, which are only accessible by ferry. Cars are not permitted on the ferries and all travel on the island is by foot or boat. Within these communities/areas are beautiful beaches, a campground, marinas, hotels, inns, cottage rentals, boutiques, and restaurants.
