Garfield County - Bryce Area

The Bryce area is located east of Red Canyon on Scenic Byway 12 and takes in much of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Sweeping views, sprawling meadows and Ponderosa pine forests make up the landscape. The highlight of our area is Bryce Canyon National Park - one of our most priceless heritages. Allow enough time to really experience the park - hike or horseback ride on trails that wind down around the hoodoos. In winter you can cross country ski, snow-shoe, or drive to the viewpoints in the park.

And you'll want to experience the wonderful recreation in the surrounding Dixie National Forest. You'll find plenty of beautiful scenery in all directions, lots of fun Western activities, and excellent accommodations all through the year. The high elevation brings pleasant daytime temperatures and cool summer evenings. You'll want to take in our nightly rodeo, chow down with the cowboys, ride a horse or mountain bike, or just relax and enjoy the cool breeze that rustles through the Ponderosa pines.

The ranching communities of Tropic, Cannonville, and Henrieville make up Bryce Valley, which lies just outside the east entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park. The area borders the new Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and the Dixie National Forest. Kodachrome Basin State Park lies nine miles south of Cannonville. Scenic Byway 12 links the towns and leads to a variety of terrain and scenery. The Bryce Valley area provides unlimited recreation and sightseeing. You'll find excellent services and accommodations throughout the year at Bryce Valley and Tropic.
