History

Sasquatch Mountain Resort, formerly known as Hemlock Valley Resort, is a ski resort located in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada. The resort is situated on the slopes of Mount Keenan in the Coast Mountains, about 120 kilometers east of Vancouver.

The history of the resort dates back to the 1960s, when the area was first explored for skiing. In the early 1970s, a group of investors began developing the resort, which officially opened in 1972 as Hemlock Valley Ski Resort. The resort featured two chairlifts and several runs, and quickly became a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders.

Over the years, the resort underwent several ownership changes and expansions, with additional lifts and runs added to the mountain. In 2005, the resort was renamed to its current name, Sasquatch Mountain Resort, in honor of the legendary creature said to inhabit the area.

Today, Sasquatch Mountain Resort offers a wide variety of skiing and snowboarding terrain, as well as other winter activities such as snowshoeing and tubing. During the summer months, the resort offers hiking, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities.

The resort covers an area of over 1,000 hectares (2,500 acres) and boasts a vertical drop of 396 meters (1,300 feet). There are currently four chairlifts in operation, serving a total of 35 runs of varying difficulty levels. The resort also features a terrain park for snowboarders and freestyle skiers, as well as a tube park for family fun.

In recent years, the resort has undergone significant upgrades and renovations, including the installation of a new high-speed quad chairlift in 2020, which has greatly improved access to the upper mountain terrain. The resort has also added new snowmaking equipment and improved grooming capabilities to ensure optimal snow conditions throughout the season.

Sasquatch Mountain Resort is known for its spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, as well as its abundant snowfall, which can exceed 10 meters (33 feet) in a single season.
